When you think of window treatments, you're obviously picturing windows behind them, but these accessories don't have to be limited to this function. Instead of relying on your curtains to block or let in light, why not get creative by using them to highlight your bedroom's bed?
According to Houzz.com, floor-to-ceiling drapery placed behind your bed frame can act as a type of visual anchor. Of course, it helps to place your bed in front of a window (preferably the same width), that way the curtains become an extension of the headboard or bedding set. But you don't have to do this to get the same effect.
If putting the bed in front of a window isn't practical, consider hanging a curtain rod right underneath the ceiling on the wall behind the bed. It should be the same width as your bed, or a bit larger. Then hang panel curtains in the same color as your bedding for a cohesive look or play around with complementary shades or patterns. It'll look like an elaborate headboard that adds drama to your bedroom and calls attention to the main piece of furniture in the space.
